Re:iMac G4 1.25 - how to maximize memory - 2008/08/19 16:36 Hector 512MB is the maximum for user installed memory. Also the 256MB may be replaced with a 512MB making the total max 1GB, however like the eMac of this speed, it will take 2 x 1GB modules. This link advertises the modules but warns the replacement of the bottom module should be carried out by a certified technician. Warranty may be void.

I guess long past warranty so you might consider it. There are plenty of web sites with instructions.
