Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo iMacs? - 2006/09/10 18:50What do you think about the new iMac "Core 2 Duo" models? What do you think about the 24-inch model in particular? Do you think it's ideal or overkill? In general, are you pleased or disappointed? Why?

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo iMacs? - 2006/09/11 00:25the 24 inch iMac looks amazing!! of course, its overkill if you have a small desk... if you dont, then i think it would be pretty sweet! i was happy to purchase the 20 inch in a few months when uni finished, but i think i'll wait and save a little longer for the 24inch! and i may need to rearrange my desk :D

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo iMacs? - 2006/09/11 11:49I like the 24 inch iMac a lot. Apple needs to make all desktops with much bigger monitors than the laptops to give poeple a reason to buy a desktop. Very smart.

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo iMacs? - 2006/09/11 16:59I must think the 24" is overkill, since I recently ordered the 20" iMac. The $500 differential is just a bit too much.
I'd been waiting to see the complete Macintel lineup before making an upgrade. When the Mac Pro came out, I realized that the low-end Mac Pro and the high-end iMac were a little too close. Then I realized that the iMac line was due for a refresh.
End result? I'll be happy with the 20". I'll run a small Bootcamp partition for XP Pro. I sometimes watch DVDs on my current non-widescreen monitor, so the glorious 20" of widescreen goodness will be second only to the home theatre setup in the living room. Hmm, I wonder if I can swing a 5.1 speaker setup for the new Mac?

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo iMacs? - 2006/09/11 17:34It is so great for some people who do not need to wear their reading glasses. They can change the font sizes anytime. I like a wide screen than a square one.
I really do not like the bottom of the white part of the LCD. Although, it should behind the monitor. What do you think about that?
