Re:OS9 Restore/Install - 2006/07/25 20:05
What kind of mouse & kb are you using ?
Best thing to do is boot from install CD and do a fresh install after initializing (erasing) the hard drive. You can find a Utilities folder on the start-up CD. Just save any files and bookmarks, etc... you don't want to loose. After erasing the drive you can install a fresh OS with no issues. Unless your drive has problems this should correct any issues and empty out accumulated junk files no longer used or needed.
The reason you cannot install on the volume is becasue you already have an OS there. You need to erase the OS to install it or you can do a clean install in "custom" if I remember correctly. There's an option somewhere in the install process.
A clean install will replace the System folder with a new one and saves all your files. But you end up with a "previous system folder" and have to transfer needed application extensions and control panels to the new System folder before trashing it.
I would erase and install to avoid any future problems.
