powermac 7600 safari issue - 2006/05/25 08:22 Okay~ I'm the first post, I wish it was more upbeat :)

I have a Pwermac 7600 with a G4 upgrade running Panther. It has 768mb of RAM. About a month ago, after a system update. Safari would crash upon startup. it would load about 90% of any page, then crash. I've looked at Apple for any suggestions, but none have worked or fit.

It has caused a major problem, because alot of the software uses safari to do it's updating. Firefox works, so a work-a-round might be to somehow make Firefox the default, every attempt has made either the software updating not work (as safari is tempory removed) or use safari anyways if I leave it on the system.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, since the Mac is now unusable for what I was using for. :(

Re:powermac 7600 safari issue - 2006/05/25 09:42 Why don't you clear out all the Safari stuff. Search for any file that has "Safari" on it, and dump it--including the app itself of course. Then use Firefox to download a new installation of the app. See what happens.

Re:powermac 7600 safari issue - 2006/06/07 23:31 I would just go with Firefox, tou can set the default browser to Firefox from within Safari's preferences.

Re:powermac 7600 safari issue - 2006/06/18 03:00 That happened to me and as I was reluctant to switch to Firefox I went looking for Safari updates. There was one and it fixed the problem.
