HELP NEEDED: To Install Leopard on Another Mac - 2009/08/28 09:54 Hello, I bought a macbook with its complete restore DVDs (leopard 10.5.4) but i lost it in transit. I still have the restore DVDs so I bought a fairly used macbook (without restore DVDs) and erased the OS, hoping to do a fresh install with my restore DVDs from the lost macbook. But every time i insert the Disc 1 a message from the installer says it cannot be installed. What do i do to install it? Thanks

Re:HELP NEEDED: To Install Leopard on Another Mac - 2009/08/28 16:46 System restore discs are very. very much model specific and the same models may even have different discs depending on security and software updates. You need to purchase what is known as the full retail install DVD, which is black.

Re:HELP NEEDED: To Install Leopard on Another Mac - 2009/08/28 20:05 I think, Apple allows you to restore your other MacBook from Time Machine of your original Mac. Try it.

Re:HELP NEEDED: To Install Leopard on Another Mac - 2009/08/29 07:44 Take it to your local Mac retailer or Apple store and they should install the original OEM software for you at no cost.

If the 2 MacBook models are different versions the disk may not work as harry mentioned. You need a retail install DVD or the OEM disks for that specific model. You can get replacement OEM disks from Apple for less than the retail Leopard DVD.
