Re:thinking about selling old macs - 2009/08/23 16:40 Give the LC580 a go but I do not think very much indeed. SE and original LC models bring a reasonable price but the 580 is a little too new to fall into the classic machine class.

Maybe in another ten years time?

Re:thinking about selling old macs - 2009/08/24 09:11 The Powerbook will sell for a few bucks but don't expect more than $20 probably. The AIO LC580 has very little value if any on eBay because the shipping would be more than it's worth. The LC580 is not rare and you would have much better luck selling it locally on Craigslist. Don't expect more than $20 for it either.

Neither of the models you mentioned are really collectible by Mac collectors who pay big bucks for stuff like the Powerbook 2400, MacTV or the first Macintosh. Most of the rest of the older Macs sell pretty low or don't sell at all on eBay.

Like harry said, in another 10 years who knows.... Eventually all Macs will be collectible because of the somewhat low numbers made. As some die and are trashed the remaining working models will increase in value. How much depends on the market. If Apple continues to attract new users and switchers the older Macs will be more and more desirable.
