G3-350, OS 10.0 & Internet Access - 2009/08/08 16:29Hi, I have an old G3-350 iMac - 128 MB RAM. I'm running OS 10.0/9.1. I'm trying to get this computer to access the internet via cable modem (Comcast). It used to connect when it was running OS 9.1. I talked to Comcast and they want me to connect using the DHCP setting. This is NOT a choice in the Network settings in either 9.1 or 10.0. (It is a choice on my newer iMac running OS 10.4.) The only choices are: "Manually" and "using PPP." Any ideas on what I can do? I tried to install the 10.4 start-up disk but it spit it out. I'm guessing that the 10.4 start-up disks are DVD's and the drive is just a CD drive. Thanks

Re:G3-350, OS 10.0 & Internet Access - 2009/08/11 23:44OSX 1.0 (Puma) was almost like a beta version. The next version 2.0 was not much better, so Panther (3.0-3.9) is your best bet. You need to get those installation disks (cheap off EBay) and install it. That should allow you to connect to your DHCP server without any problems.
BTW, if you boost up the memory to 256 you can install OSX Tiger also. I have it running on one of my 350's.
