assess this powerbook Ti 1gz, 1gb, please - 2009/07/28 03:32
Here is the seller's (an individual) description. Whaddya think? I am not a superdooperapple guy, but have had an ibook for a few yrs, and it has recently died. any questions? If I cd get this for $283 plus 20 shipping, is this an ok deal?

The only cosmetic issues are that the paint is peeling from the hinges, and their are 2 hairline cracks in the plastic frame that goes around the edge of the keyboard/mouse platform (see pictures). This is not uncommon for this model, and can be corrected if it becomes really bad by replacing that frame, also known as the "top case", readily available on ebay. This Powerbook has had this issue for several years, and has not become worse, nor does it affect it's use. I have thought about doing this if the cracks became worse, but so far it has not become necessary. But, to be clear, this is not the main frame of the laptop that is affected - only the plastic frame. Apple should have known better when they designed this.
The "Superdrive" plays and burns cd's and dvd's. This model of powerbook, unlike later models, stays very cool when operating, and yet it's 1 GHZ processor is fast enough to play videos. Ram has been upgraded to 1 Gig, and the hard drive has also been upgraded to 120 GB.
This is a really nice powerbook that you will be perfectly happy with and comes with the original box, power adapter and a newly purchased battery. If you request certain software after purchase, and I have it, I will install for you.
