mac mini - 2009/07/23 18:32 helping a freind

this mac mini can,t find the system ( folder with ?)
I clean installed 10.4 and it seemed to work until I tried to reboot then it would not see any thing
did the rebooting several time and then it worked and ran the dic repair and tech tools on it
has work for about 4 months and now it doing is again. is the HD done
mac mini 1.4 gig cpu

Re:mac mini - 2009/07/25 13:14 My first thought would be the hard drive is on it's way out. If you have an external Firewire drive you could run the Mini off that or replace the internal drive but that's a little tricky on a Mini. Hard drives are fairly cheap so I would just replace it a new one and hope that fixes the problem for another few years.

There are plenty of on-line guides to replacing the hard drive on a mini and it's not too bad, just a little tricky. Look in the Q&A section on this site for the Mac Mini and you'll find info for swapping the hard drive.
