Re:Pismo booting issues - 2009/06/15 13:29 Hi there

Well as it happens i've only just as of today, fixed the pismo. After replacing the PMU and that not solving the problem. I resolved to my final theory. That the problem was with the logic board.

My reason for this was due to the problem of not booting only occuring after i had saved the date/time. This data is stored on the logic board in the systems equivelent of a CMOS (least i assume so).

The replacement board was purchased off ebay and arrived this morning. After a strip down and rebuild the system is now working properly. So if your laptop is acting EXACTLY like i discribed mine was..Then buying a new logic board might do it, for what i payed it's certainly worth it.

Even tho these machines are getting on, they certainly are useful if your wanting to serf the net in a cafe or some where.

Re:Pismo booting issues - 2009/06/15 19:52 Glad to hear you got it working James. So you bit the bullet and got a logic board ? May as well keep going after replacing everything else. It could be worse.... you could have spent the money on a peecee that you would enjoy a lot less.

I wished I had some experience with the Pismos to offer, but I didn't. The Pismo is one of the few Mac I have never owned. I did try to get a Pismo the other day because the price was right, but it sold before I got a chance to respond to the ad.

I'm still amazed at what some of the Pismos sell for on eBay, especially the upgraded ones.
