Re:Using Audacity Software/Records - 2009/06/07 16:20 sorry for the delayed response...so you are able to select the usb turntable in the drop down under audio i/o-recording, but still not seeing sound...that small noise you hear is typical of all turntables since the needle hitting the vinyl actually emits the music....i'm trying to think of what else could be causing no audio...

Re:Using Audacity Software/Records - 2009/06/08 23:59 Thanks David. No icon or other indication that the Turntable is recognised.
The Turntable is on in that it is playing a record but there's no sound coming from the computer.

Re:Using Audacity Software/Records - 2009/06/09 19:27 I think there was a driver program called USB Overdrive or something like that, it may help, but as long as your Mac does not see the turntable it will not play through!

I tried the USB turntables and I was not impressed, I went back to my good old, RCA jack with a preamp, turntable. I had 4 extra ports on my mixing board so it was painless! Of course with the add-ons, which will always occur, I now have no unused ports, I guess I need more POWER, 16 channels, 4 being dual channel are not enough!

Re:Using Audacity Software/Records - 2009/06/12 08:05 is that the ion? hmmm...well if the mac is not recognizing the turntable then you have some issues...that's very frustrating. and audacity is not going to be capturing a device that is not in it's audio input drop down menu...did this thing come with a disk that has drivers? i never thought you'd need that for a mac but maybe u do...by the way, what operating system are you using? my apologies if i overlooked that but you want to be sure you have the OS that the turntable says it works with...it probably at least has to be Panther, or 10.3...

daviddreid has an excellent point...the best is to use a universal rca input device, like the griffin powerwave, which i don't think is on the market anymore...and plug a mixboard into it, but not everyone other than a bedroom (or professional) dj has that lying around...
