iBook G3 900MHz Ram help ! - 2009/05/15 04:36 Hi everyone, I need some advice please.
I have just aquired an ibook G3 900Mhz iBook model A1005, I tried to put a single 512Mb module of PC133 ram in, the iBook only sees 256Mb ?Is this normal, is the ram faulty, I checked several times to make sure it is clicked into place correctly and I have also cleaned the contacts. i have seen a post on this forum saying that my iBook could take 1Gb ? Not sure about this but advice would be most helpfull, perhaps it needs a firmware update ? i am running OSX Version 10.4.11 all advice will be greatly apreciated, matt

Re:iBook G3 900MHz Ram help ! - 2009/05/15 08:38 Maximum RAM for that iBook is 640 MB, so if you have a soldered 256 MB chip, it will see only 256 of the one you installed. The specs are here.

Re:iBook G3 900MHz Ram help ! - 2009/05/15 17:45 It should be seeing the 640MB unless the memory you installed was not low density Apple compatible memory./ G3's and G4's are very fussy about memory compatability.

Did you get the memory from an Apple supplier? If so they should offer some sort of warranty. Check the memory specs with site sponsor OWC.
