Third Party Software Unstable? - 2006/05/25 07:04 I read on MacFixit about issues with the latest Security update , including startup issues, and third-party software instability. In particular, the updates break MplayerOSX and VLC. They just hang the machine up and it does not respond except to a hard reset.

To fix it, I had to go back to the original install off of the Mini DVD. I even tried to update to 10.4.6 but the behavior came back.

Anyone see anything new about these issues? From what I read on MacFixit, Apple has a broken update on its hands.
