Re:iMac G3 600 mhz - 2009/04/20 23:19 First have a good read of this link:-

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5539090

Suggest you pop the OS 9 disc in, reboot holding down ''C", run Repair Disk and then select a clean install.

Are you aware if OS X has ever run on the machine? If not you will have to do a firmware update prior to booting from the OS X.3 disc, and do an install only.

Re:iMac G3 600 mhz - 2009/04/21 01:29 so i read it and correct me if i am wrong. if i boot on the OS9 disc i have i can make a choice for a clean install which in turn formats the HD? or is reformatting a different action? if so i need to do that first

Re:iMac G3 600 mhz - 2009/04/21 06:58 On the OS9 disk you will find a folder called utilities, inside that folder is another folder called Drive Setup ƒ, and inside that folder is Drive Setup, this application will allow you to format or even set the hard disk in partitions. Before you load OSX remember to install the OS9 drivers while you go through the selections on the OSX disk, hope this answers your questions, if not I will call it a senior moment on my behalf!
