Re:admin password removal help please - 2009/03/16 14:07 You'll need the OS install DVD to change the password. It doesn't require reinstalling the system, but booting from the DVD will allow you to change the password via the File Menu. Otherwise I know of no way to change the password.

Re:admin password removal help please - 2009/03/16 16:13 pip always insist on the system discs when buying a computer, Mac or PC. As advised you will need the Panther install DVD/CD to change the password.

Sorry.

Re:admin password removal help please - 2009/03/17 17:16 hello guys thankyou for your replies i thought i would have to buy install disks. not sure why Cacicedo has said i will need to "Panther install DVD/CD to change the password." but i know nothing about this system as i said i believe it has leapard 10.3.9 installed not panther.
however i will certainly rely on the advice given and thank both you guys who took the time to reply

thankyou so much regards from pip

Re:admin password removal help please - 2009/03/17 17:54 Jaguar is OS10.2xxx
Panther is OS10.3xxx
Tiger is OS10.4xxx
Leopard is OS10.5xxx
That is why he said you need Panther.
If you go up to the Apple icon in the main menubar and scroll down to " About This Mac ", a box will come up with "version 10.xxx.
That will tell you what you have already installed for the OS.
Personally for your model iBook , I would use Tiger not Leopard .

Re:admin password removal help please - 2009/03/17 20:41 If you are near an Apple store or a Mac dealer you can ask them to boot the iBook off a disk for you to change the password. Explain that you bought it that way and they should help you with it for free.
