Re:Discussion Q&A - Mac Pro Features? - 2006/07/09 21:45 Although I am by no means a typical Pro user, I know what I believe the MacIntel Pro needs...
Smaller, narrower, shorter and thinner and shiny-er case.
No fans. RamDisk, or more Solid State mass memory.
The ability to run any version of Windows on BootCamp 2.0, (wishful thinking), which allows Windows OS to run full speed, within a window, simultaneously with Mac OS, at full speed, and with smart CPU, smart Clipboard and RAM sharing.
The ability to install 16GB of RAM.
The ability to rip a CD directly into RAM (not dependent on Hard drive speed).
Built in media readers and A/V jacks more accessible.
Multi-button Bluetooth Mighty Mouse.
Onboard Coax input / output, TV, HDTV, and cable modem.
WiFi multi-media remote, compatible with FrontRow and "Airtunes A/V" (ie Airtunes with more robust functionality and lower latency, allowing 'slinging' of more than just iTunes audio.)
Ability to accept a cell phone SIM card, fax over bluetooth via cell phone, the ability to act as a bluetooth headset, and as a VoIP (and ViIP) headset.
Long-range, multi-media, radio-frequency Remote has a monitor for many purposes, including monitoring system ops.
Ability to remotely control certain system ops, including by cell phone, email and others (whole house entertainment, and eHouse, security, etc.)
More media keys, not just Volume and Mute, but also Play, Pause, Skip Ahead, SlowMo, Channel Up/Down.
Oh yeah, and it never causes the audio output balance to skew right, every so slowly, making me have to go into System Prefs and re-center the audio balance, like my G4 Tower and Powerbook do now.
