Wireless card type: Airport
Wireless card locale: U.S.A.
Wireless card Firmware Version: 9.52
Current Wireless Network: Airport is currently turned off

On the network it's written as: (for airport) Interface - en1

I have 64mb's of ' DIMMO ' memory built in and I also have DIMMI/J12 - 256 mb's - PC 100 - 2225

Capacity is: 11.12 GB.
available: 7.26 GB's, but this will change ! , I want to do a complete system change, right now it's got O.S. 9 & 10.3-Panther on it. I just want O.S.X-'cause I never use O.S.9 anymore.

Re:airport card not responding in Clamshell - 2006/07/12 08:15 If your router does not have antenae(s) it's not wireless. You would have paid extra for it when you hooked up your DSL probably.

If it has the antenae it's good to go.

You need to open your network preferences to enter the WEP encryption password probably to get a signal.

On a computer attached via ethernet cable try opening a browser and typing DSL in the address bar to get the router's setup info.

If DSL won't work in the browser try typing 192.168.1.1 to open the routers preferences and set-up.

Look for the WEP 128bit encryption key or password. Then use that number in your Clamshell's network preferences.

Note: The Clamshell cannot use an Airport Extreme card, just the Airport Card which is a "B" speed wifi. Getting a "G" router will not get you "G" speeds but will work at the slower "B" speed.

If you still have OS 9 on the Clamshell I would add OS X becasue it is easier to set-up wifi in OS X from my experience. And X is so much better.

My DSL router DOESN'T have Antenae-Phooey ! and yes, I probably would have paid more for this feature. My Granddaughter, Bronwyn took all the numbers off of my DSL modem and told me somewhat the same thing as you mention here. I will try this when my desktop is not in service ( which is hardly ever), but in this case., I'll sacrifice since I'll have to use the same ethernet cable anyway.
I guess I'm going to have to say here, that I still am having a real hard time trying to get this "Other person's" short name off of the iBook. I want to know if I should completely "wipe" the drive and start over ?, there is O.S. 9 and O.S. X-Panther on this Clamshell now., and I think I should have only 1 system on it, instead of 2. I would prefer to do this now., before I put my own name in & then get complete access to email and the net., but how do I do this ?, is it different on an iBook then on a desktop ?. I only want Panther, not the older system.
