Linksys WMP54G Card work with a G3 B&W ? - 2008/11/07 16:13 Local Mac Reseller tells me that the Linksys WMP54G 802.G PCI wireless card will work for a B&W G3 Desktop.

True Or False. Don't want to waste money on one and find out it does not. Linksys's own specs show mostly Windows Compability. Are there drivers for Mac ya can download, and if so, what's the URL ?.

Thanks;
Mike

Re:Linksys WMP54G Card work with a G3 B&W ? - 2008/11/07 19:50 Yes it will work, but you need a program called "WirelessUtilityCardbusPCI" to get OS X to use it.

You can download the app here (at bottom):

Check the revision number of the card though. I found this info from another forum on the subject:

"Linksys change chipsets on their cards without notice and only Broadcom chipsets work without additional drivers on Mac OS X. If your card is revision 4 of the card (it has a very small slim PCB) then it's not a broadcom and it's not going to work. Versions 1-3 were Broadcom and consequently did work."

Re:Linksys WMP54G Card work with a G3 B&W ? - 2008/11/08 11:12 Once again Thanks! Will see if I can find a pre-Revision 4 Linksys unit.

The Reseller never mentioned all this to me.
