Unclear about powerbook g4 specs - 2008/10/15 09:58 I have had my powerbook g4 TiBook for several years now. I bought it used under the notion that it was a 1ghz model. I turn it on and look at the about this mac tab and it says 867mhz. The sticker under the battery says refurbished, 1ghz. It has a 80 gb hard drive and 1gb of ram and a super drive. Is there a way to tell for sure what the processor specs are? Thanks

Re:Unclear about powerbook g4 specs - 2008/10/15 18:39 If the profiler shows it as an 867MHz G4 you can be pretty confident that's what it is.

The only way to be 100% would be to look at the numbers on the CPU itself. The Apple System Profiler did have some problems reading aftermarket CPU's correctly in the past but I've never seen it goof on an Apple processor.

It sounds like someone either swapped the bottom case, or the logic board. The CPU is soldered to the board and is not swappable.
