IPOD classic support - 2008/10/02 09:38 I have had an IPOD classic for over 4 years now, no problems until now.
Screen directs me to the Ipod support section on the apple website, and occasionally comes up with a picture of what looks like the base of a battery with a lightening bolt through it. Have been through all the resets etc to no avail, took it to the apple shop where I bought it and they looked at it, pronounced it dead, and told me that apple (in Thailand where I live) no longer stock spares for this, so essentially tough [luck]. I have no problems paying for a repair, and find it difficult to believe that an item I paid the equivalent of about 700US for at the time is no longer supported.
Is there a central Apple complaints number or email address I can contact or does anyone have another suggestion.

Re:IPOD classic support - 2008/10/02 19:02 four years is pretty good for a battery and its way out of warranty duh its not supported. pay someone else to replace the battery or do it yourself.

Re:IPOD classic support - 2008/10/03 02:14 Scott2. The point I was making was not that the battery or anything else was out of warranty, but that apple no longer hold spares to support this model in Thailand, and I don't find that good customer support, especially given the premium you pay for their products to start with. I am more than willing to pay for the repair.
Given that I am not getting any satisfaction with apple in Thailand, has anyone got any suggestions as to how I might get this repaired. Is replacing the battery / hard drive easy to do yourself or get replaced by someone other than apple. How do I go about opening the ipod myself to check these, it doesn't have any obvious screws or fastenings on the case.
