Is iMac and eMac software the same for iMac G3? - 2008/09/08 21:22 I have an iMac G3 600 DVD/CD Snow computer. Is there a distinction between the iMac and eMac software?

I figure iMac software is for iMac computers and eMac software is for the eMac computer. Is this correct? Help!

Re:Is iMac and eMac software the same for iMac G3? - 2008/09/08 22:10 If you're talking about the operating system that comes with those computers, which I assume is OS 9, then yes, the system software is computer specific. That seems not to be the case with the OS X system disks that come with packaged with computers.

Re:Is iMac and eMac software the same for iMac G3? - 2008/09/10 03:37 As a rule the machine specific disks only work on the machine it was made for but there are always exceptions to the rule.

I had an OS 9.1 iMac Install disk that would work with any Mac I ever tried it on.

If you already have the disk just try it, it may work. I wouldn't buy one to use with a different Mac unless it was guaranteed to work.
