Re:MacBook not starting up - 2008/08/17 15:54 I finally got a hold of my friend's MacBook. She found her disks and I used them to start up the machine and run disk utilities, the hard drive passed all tests and permissions were all ok but it will not start the computer. I decided to do an archive and intall and it went well until I was doing the updates from Apple via software update. She has 10.4.8 disks. All the updates went well except for the 10.4.11 combo update. After downloading, it started to 'verify and expand' only to end with this message "The digital signature of this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by 'Apple'."
I tried the download through software update again only to get the same message. What gives ?

Thanks for any help
Randy

I just finished downloading the 10.4.11 intel combo update directly from Apples site. When I try to expand it, I get an "invalid checksum" error and the disk image will not mount.
I am getting perplexed here. The whole problem with her MacBook started with an update, and now it won't take an update.
