mini stuck on language screen - 2008/07/05 19:51 I'll try to summarize as much as possible - but please note that I have already gone through all of the "normal" procedures & done some analysis - without final success, which is why I'm here -for very advanced information.

Device : ipod mini (4gig) w/ clickwheel under windows 2000 & itunes 7.0.2.16

Symptom: will only start if connected to pc - will show up in itunes & function basically as a usb drive, wen disconnected from itunes, language selection screen & won't go any further.
History - ipod had Sad ipod icon - I replaced the battery and the hard drive.
With the old HD installed, all clickwheel functions work
With the new HD, it starts only if plugged into the pc & I've reset it several times (as well as formatting the HD though windows in every possible format) - and you can actually add music to it & play through itunes, so it's able to function as a storage unit - but when I disconnect it, it gets stuck at the language selection screen & the clickwheel doesn't do anything. I've had it apart at least 50 times & have run diagnostics. Here's an excerpt of the only part that seems to be "wrong"
