titanium mac - 2008/06/19 20:59I am considering buying a used titanium 17 inch mac book, how do I know what is its fastest processor speed and options? Ive heard that some would not boot up directly to OSX but went to OS9 first. How do you know if it has the more desiragble dual boot up. I think I can buy it for half the price or less than a mac book and has a 17 inch screen.
is there any drawback to the titanim model"

Re:titanium mac - 2008/06/20 02:13Most of your questions are addressed on EveryMac.com on the specs pages and Q&A for the PowerBook G4.
There is not a 17-Inch PowerBook G4 Titanium model, but there are several 17-Inch PowerBook G4 Aluminum models.
I hope this is helpful.
Cheers,

Re:titanium mac - 2008/07/16 17:27May be wrong but I head that the titanium models impede WiFi connectivity somewhat, hence the switch to aluminum. Wanted a titanium model myself but read this and it put me off.
I hope this helps

Don't believe everything you hear. Any problems with wifi signal would have nothing to do with the material the Powerbook is made of.
The switch to Aluminum was to match with the rest of Apple's line of iMacs and PowerMacs being made at the time.
Both the Titanium and Aluminum Powerbooks are good models if the price is right.

Re:titanium mac - 2008/07/16 19:54There are no Macs that "need" to boot OS 9 before booting OS X.
I think you have that confused with Classic OS 9.
The AL 17" Powerbook does need to be running OS X to use any OS 9 apps. It cannot boot (run) OS 9 but uses emulation called "Classic" to run OS 9 or OS 9 applications.
The Titanium Powerbooks were the last to boot OS 9. None of the AL models do.
