Re:G3 iMac - 2008/06/10 10:32 That kind of iMac can boot into OS 9 or OS 10, up to 10.4.11, so either kind of installation disk will work to boot.

Re:G3 iMac - 2008/06/10 10:52 Can i still get OS9??
The only OSX discs i have is a bundled version i got with my G5 iMac which doesn't load, or is the a way round it.

Re:G3 iMac - 2008/06/10 15:10 No way to use the G5 disks and you can still get OS 9 used (or new old stock) on eBay.

If you are near an Apple store or Apple dealer they would probably install OS 9 on it for free. Your iMac probably came with OS 8.6 pre-installed and they may prefer to install that OS but it never hurts to ask if they will install OS 9.

If you plan on upgrading it to OS X someday make sure you update the iMac's Firmware before attempting to install OS X. If not, you could lose the video and it's a real pain to get working again.

Re:G3 iMac - 2008/07/15 15:33 You may be able to install the OS X you got with your G5 by connecting your iMac to the G5 in Target Disk Mode. You need a firewire cable between them for that.

Re OS 9, post your Email and I'll contact you directly with an option.
