About the cost, with a little conversion from mexican pesos to U.S. dollars: three AA batteries: .90 dollars, plastic case: .30 dollars, electric tape, like .05 dollars, soldering... pass it away, if you have the tools, is almost free. So, the cost was around 1.25 dollars and now, three or four years after, it works flawlessly.

I didn´t solder the batteries, only wrapped the case and batteries with electric tape to be sure that no battery will lose its place or the case will brake with time and heat.

The brand new 4.5 v square battery here in Mexico is around 17.00 dollars.
