Converting Lp Audio to Digital with eMac - 2008/05/16 00:30I have a bunch of LP's, an LP turntable and an eMac800, 300GB HD, 1GB SDRam with a CD Burner(Toast 6 Titanium). Is it possible to convert LP audio to digital audio with a converter cable connecting my turntable to the Mac via firewire? Also, do I need additional software if it is possible. I want to try do this by avoiding the purchase of a USB turntable. Thanks, Tex Wilson

Re:Converting Lp Audio to Digital with eMac - 2008/05/16 12:20You need a Griffin iMic or their Turntable connection cable to connect your turntable to the Mac.
The linked page uses Audacity but you can use Spin Doctor that is bundled with Toast.

Re:Converting Lp Audio to Digital with eMac - 2008/05/16 18:54I've converted a whole bunch of LPs with just an audio connection from the amplifier to the computer, usually through the headphone jack. Just plug a line from the headphone jack to the audio in port on the Mac, and use something like WireTap to record the audio on the computer. If you want to edit the audio file, you'll also need something like Peak.
