TextEdit OS10.4 - 2006/06/27 02:20When OS10.4.6 was installed a month ago Text Edit automatically opened email attachments. This was excellent as there was no corruption of text. Now Nisus Express has taken over and it often corrupts text. Is there any way to set Text Edit to open attachments?

Re:TextEdit OS10.4 - 2006/06/29 12:38This is just a guess, but what the heck. Get the information window open on a .txt file and see what the default application is to open those files. Somehow it may have become Nisus Express. If you want Text Edit to open a kind of file, in other words, set the preference in the information window.

Re:TextEdit OS10.4 - 2006/07/01 02:31Where do you put Nisus other than in the Trash? It was put on the DeskTop in an unmarked folder and that didn't work as it still loaded.

Re:TextEdit OS10.4 - 2006/07/01 02:37Thanks! Checked a previous Attachment opened by Text Edit and there doesn't appear to be such a preference. However it was discovered that Nisus is evasive. It is listed in the Text Edit File Menu as the Thesaurus. I really don't want to Trash Nisus, it's useful as a WP.

Re:TextEdit OS10.4 - 2006/07/01 17:46I found Nisus pretty basic not as solid as Appleworks nor MS Word (Word 2001 for OS 9 and Office Mac v. X for OS X).
If it suits you fine.
