6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/24 14:15Is the 6x bus multiplier supported by the 604e processor card (non Mach5!) ? Because I am confused: On www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~t-imai/pm85e1.html I found that it does. On www.macinfo.de/hardware/bus.html I found that it does not. I want to clockchip my 233/604e card from my 9600. Thanks!

Re:6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/24 15:37I can't say one way or the other, but I would take bekkoame's word for it. Although the Germans are pretty anal about details.......
bekkoame seems to be "the guy" on overclocking.
But why not just get a G3 upgrade card. The used G3 cards are dirt cheap. I think I paid $10 for the last 400MHz G3 card I bought and had several 300 & 333MHz cards given to me. They are probably less expensive now since that has been a couple years ago.
The performance difference between a 603e and the G3 is well worth spending a few bucks on.

Re:6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/25 12:18Thanks Krow! You are right with the G3 upgrade card. With it I could install Panther or even Tiger on the 9600! Now I am running OS 9.2 and Jaguar. But where can I find one?

Re:6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/25 13:40Here on the the Wanted to buy section of the forums, LEMSwap Google list or eBay.
Neither have any bids yet and probably will not get more than one or two bids.

Re:6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/25 14:44Yes, they are looking great and make my heart beat faster. The bad thing is that both are shipping only in the USA and I am from Romania - I try hard here to hold my mac (mini)collection functional: 2 IIsi`s, 2x6100/60, 1x7600/200, 1x9650/233 all functional) + 1xiMac G3 350 (dead), 1xiMac DV400 (this one I`m still trying to repair). I`m a Mac lover and want to tell other people here about Macs because very few heard about them. By us only iPods are starting to be popular. We don`t have an Apple Store in Romania and by the few resellers prices for Apple Computers (and even for iPods) are almost double compared with the prices in the USA.

Re:6x multiplier/604e ? - 2008/04/25 16:09That's a shame Macs are so tough to find in Romania. You have a nice collection considering. Unfortunately many or most eBay sellers will not ship overseas. I sell some Mac stuff on eBay from time to time and never had a problem with international shipping but I guess they just don't want to bother with the small amount of extra paperwork.
In the interest of international Mac relations maybe I can help. I may have a spare upgrade card somewhere so just send me a private message and I'll see what I have for your 9600. (Just for the cost of shipping)
