The name has already been changed from the OpenMac to the OpenPc since it was announced yesterday.
They are actually going to load Leopard on it for the customer. I'm sure that has the Apple lawyers busy lawyering and sending letters.

Re:New Mac clone....OpenMac - 2008/04/15 09:19So if you build a computer to run any operating system without modifying to os code, that voids the licensing agreement? I was wondering when Apple switched to Intel chips when this would happen.
I wonder if you can Quad boot this system with leopard, XP Pro, Vista and Ubuntu? That would be fun...

Re:New Mac clone....OpenMac - 2008/04/15 14:15It all hinges on a single clause that says, in effect, that installing Apple software on anything other than Apple hardware is a violation of the SLA, which puzzled those who decided to give Safari a shot in Windows.
Apple may be in serious trouble if they let this happen. I seriously hope they catch these hacks fast.

Re:New Mac clone....OpenMac - 2008/04/19 02:55i wish apple would allow cloners to make systems they dont wanna make. apple doesnt have a low end tower or a gaming tower and those are the two computers this company has decided to make.
if apple isnt going to sell those types of computers then psystar isnt even competing with the company and if theyre buying retail copies of the os then what is the problem? apple makes money on the os and new customers use mac os x.

The problem is that it hurts Apple sales which is why the Mac OS isn't licensed for non-Apple computers. Apple is a hardware company that just happens to make good software not the other way around.
Apple is not going to make a Mac like the Psystar PC because it would cut into the sales of the MacPro.
Why make a cheaper version and loose money ?
Porsche doesn't sell a $15,00 911, nor should they.
Mercedes doesn't sell a $15,00 car either.
Like it or not, the Mac Mini is a cheap as Apple is going to get. Specifically designed to not be upgradeable or compete with any Mac tower.
Besides, I'm not so sure this OS X installed Open Computer even exists. So far there has been a lot of speculation but no real details and nobody has seen one.
Check out this link for info on a company you probably don't want to buy anything from:
If you really want a cheap computer that will run OS X you can build your own fairly easy. And there will be problems with updates and some driver issues just as with the Psystar PC.
All you need to know to build your own x86 Mac is on these pages:
