Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/22 18:47 iWping means to erase the HDD.

Find best results to use install CD, boot holding down C, go to Disk Utility, and select zero the drive, remembering to opt for OS 9 drivers to be installed.

Then if large enough (say 20G or larger, partition whilst in Disk Utility with say 5GB and 15 GB partitions, installing OS X on larger and OS 9.2.2 on smaller.

If the Imac has the standard HDD of about 9G, to 350 slot loader model, might well be too small to partition.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/22 21:34 Well, there was no option or folder for "zeroing the drive," so I couldn't do it. Anything else you know?

You have to boot from the OS 9 CD to install OS 9.

Will it boot from the OS 9 CD ? If so just to a clean install from the OS 9 CD. It won;t let you do anything but a clean install but it should not affect your OS X system.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/24 02:50 If the install CD is loaded then there must be an option to do a Clean Install, e.g. wipe the HD clean, or the option to do an installation that doesn't wipe the HD.
Twice I've gone to reply and twice I've forgotten to check the Apple site. There are documents available on the Apple site re partioning.
Some OSX installation CD's have the option to partition the HD for OS9 installation.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/07/26 08:43 For Krow:
Should Blake install first OS 9.2.2 before installing OS X so that the latter install classic modes?
Blake: I would suggest you first partition your HD, do a clean install from the OS9 install disk on one of two partitions, then install from the OSX install disk OSX on the other partition. This worked for me on an old imac with a 10 gig hard drive
