Classic Software help - 2006/06/20 23:40 i have an iMac G3 with OSX, and every time I try to load an older program it tells me I don't have valid system software requirements for the Classic Environment. Does anyone know where I can find this, or what I can do about it? Thanks in advance.

Addendum: When I try to install OS 9.2.1, it won't do it because I don't have Classic. It's a vicious cycle! Any help would be great.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/20 23:53 Do you have OS 9.2.2 installed on the computer? If you don't, you can't use classic apps. If you do, then I don't know what's wrong.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/21 00:32 No, I only have OS X. And I can't load the copy of OS 9.2.1 that I have because I don't have Classic.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/21 17:03 The solution may well be to wipe the HDD and if large enough, partition, and install 9.2.2 on one partition and OS X on the second, larger partition. When installing OS X it is necessary to select the box marked install OS 9 drivers.

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/21 22:33 How would I go about wiping it?

Re:Classic Software help - 2006/06/22 18:46 iWping means to erase the HDD.

Find best results to use install CD, boot holding down C, go to Disk Utility, and select zero the drive, remembering to opt for OS 9 drivers to be installed.

Then if large enough (say 20G or larger, partition whilst in Disk Utility with say 5GB and 15 GB partitions, installing OS X on larger and OS 9.2.2 on smaller.

If the Imac has the standard HDD of about 9G, to 350 slot loader model, might well be too small to partition.
