Is my Mac Pro 266 Quad Core or Duo Core? - 2007/12/27 13:34 Is my Mac Pro 266 Quad Core or Duo Core?

From the overview below the processor name is "Dual-Core," however, it also dates that it has 4 cores?

I want to purchase more memory but all references to Mac Pro refer to Quad-Core. Which is it?

Thanks!

Michael

What you have is a Dual processor - Dual-Core Mac which in total gives you 4 Cores. Or 2 processors with 2 cores each.

Re:Is my Mac Pro 266 Quad Core or Duo Core? - 2007/12/27 18:15 The Apple Store calls the two dual-chip configuration a quad core, and calls the two quad-chip configuration 8-core.

Re:Is my Mac Pro 266 Quad Core or Duo Core? - 2007/12/29 10:40 Thanks. I'm looking to purchase more memory for my dual-core Mac Pro, but all of the Mac Pro memory looks like its for quad-core machines.

Am I misunderstanding something or will a dual-core Mac Pro accept the same memory as a quad-core?

Re:Is my Mac Pro 266 Quad Core or Duo Core? - 2007/12/29 11:11 I think all the MacPros take the same memory. For an assortment of prices, check out this page
