connect new macbook to lcd tv - 2007/12/11 17:00 Hi,
i want to connect my macbook to my tv to watch movies. I just want to be sure what cables i need. When i ordered the mac, it says to connect to a tv i need a"mini-dvi to video."
i searched on the internet to make sure i didnt need anything else, and a lot of sites are talking about a vga adapter??..so now im confused.
Can someone tell me what cable i need, and if i need a separate one for audio.
also ive heard the cables that mac sell, are pretty short. do i have to buy mac brand or can i just get a cable down in my local electronic store?

Thanks so much, and sorry if you've answered this question before, i did a search before posting but couldnt find anything.

Thanks :-)

Re:connect new macbook to lcd tv - 2007/12/12 11:00 The MacBook has a mini-DVI video out but should come with a mini-DVI to VGA or DVI adapter. I'm not sure which is included with the new MacBooks. You just need something to go from the adapter included with the MacBook to your TV.

You will also need a Audio mini-jack out to RCA for your TV's audio input and you can get that anywhere. The only "Apple" part you should need is the mini-DVI and that should come with the laptop.

I would just ask the salesman at the Apple dealer what you need and then get it somewhere else if it's too pricey.

Sorry, I couldn't be more specific but hopefully I helped a little.
