No USB 2.0, no new iPod? - 2007/09/11 23:45I have been thinking about getting a new iPod (either a classic or a touch), but I noticed that Apple lists USB 2.0 as a requirement. However I have an G4 iMac 700 (running Tiger) that doesn't have USB 2.0. Does this mean I'm shut out from using one of the newer iPods?

Re:No USB 2.0, no new iPod? - 2007/09/11 23:57Forgot to mention that I am currently using a 3g 'Pod connecting thru a Dock to Firewire cable. Would that still work with a new 'Pod?

Re:No USB 2.0, no new iPod? - 2007/12/05 14:10what apple say is rubbish. i'm as we speak using a classic 8gb on an emac with usb 1.1, although i am using tiger's latest version.
i have also run an ipod nano (1st gen) on an old g3 powerbook running 10.2.8 through an ancient usb pcmia card. the box said it needed usb 2.0 and 10.3.4.
hogwash. if you have a friend with a newish ipod, ask them if you can try connecting it. apple will probably just tell you you'll need a new mac. i reckon you'll be fine.
