Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitor-problems - 2007/08/14 02:24Dear Mac Users, As I cannot locate a suitable forum to discuss Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitors here looks a nice spot! And as I have this monitor connected to my G4 mac I am therefore justified. Great monitor although sadly things are going dim on me and as the age of the monitor creeps along I do believe i am in for some sort of part replacement/service. The top section of the LCD screen has dimmed to the extent that it is now difficult to use unless I "squint" with both contrast and brightness adjusted to maximum,is still poor. I have read somewhere that replacement "illumination elements" are available to replace the "worn" out units and just a matter of installation and the monitor is as good as new again. Is there anyone out there in macland who may know of this procedure or possibly have any information that may assist my problem mick.

Re:Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitor-problems - 2007/08/14 18:26Go to www.discussions.apple.com and look under displays for your problem which may be listed under 'backlight replacement'.
Sorry can't be more helpful but unable to get into the Apple discussion forums today from Australia.

Re:Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitor-problems - 2007/08/17 19:51Dear harryb, Thanks for the support, yes it doe's sound like the cold cathode bulb although that means a fair bit of research to locate something that will suit as a replacement.Something for my idle hours (of which I have none). Anyone know of an alternative replacement before I disassemble and further the research myself? Thanks again harryb I will not rest until I complete repairs as I love my 20" apple screen. mick

Re:Apple Cinema 20" LCD Monitor-problems - 2007/08/18 17:22Here is a link to pdf downloadable instructions for your job. You might research if Dell 20" and Apple 20" use the identical bulb?
