iPhone as a modem - 2007/07/11 10:40 I am currently on line using a Motorola Razor phone, and the Alltel network. This is a borrowed set up, while I explore the iPhone possiblities. I live in a rural area where I have a choice of slow dial up internet, or unreliable (and EXPENSIVE) satellite. So far, this phone/alltel system is working well.

Will I be able to use my iPhone as a modem to connect to the internet using my Cingular account? I currently have Cingular as my cell phone provider and I do NOT want to have to switch to Alltel to get this service. I want to get an iPod, a new phone, and a smart phone to check my email when I don't want to drag my laptop around would be handy. So the modem issue is really the selling point. Will the EDGE technology be that much slower than what I am currently using with the Razor? I admit I don't know which one they are using.

I haven't been able to get this answered by anyone, including the Cingular Store.

thanks. I have more questions I'll put in another post
