Re:physically securing my new mac pro - 2007/04/17 01:10
I can't suggest any "locking" hardware but keep in mind where there is a will, there is a way for a thief to get it. Luckily most thieves don't know much about computers and usually only grab laptops.
You could always lock it inside some sort of cabinet, or a desk enclosure with a door lock to keep it out of sight.
I've seen car stereos literally destroyed because someone could not steal it. Small minded thieves will destroy something just because they can't steal it. Good home owners insurance and documentation of what you have is a good idea in case the worst happens.
But a big old log chain and a good solid padlock would be a good way to discourage any would-be thief. The more secure it "looks" the more likely they will not touch it.
When I lived in high-crime areas my favorite security system was a German Shepard. Nobody EVER messed with my house.
But seriously, make sure what you mount the locking hardware to is solid and not easily cut, broken, etc... or you may loose the Mac and half of the desk along with it if you are mounting it to a desk.
