External SCSI configuration - 2007/02/09 01:44 I've got an old powerbook that I'd like to use as a MIDI computer. Right now, all my MIDI software for this vintage mac is on a 230 Mb hard drive I pulled out of a Centris 650. I have a SCSI external harddrive enclosure. I put the 230 Mb hard drive in the enclosure, hook it up to the 'book, and it woln't mount. nothing. I do not have another SCSI mac to put this hard drive in and network over to the book.

I know it's terminated, because I hooked up a zip drive and set that thing to terminate, I don't know if the problem is the MIDI channel or not, because there's no way to set that with jumpers on the 230 Mb drive. I assume the default midi channel is 1, correct. But the powerbook is already using channel 1. grrrrr.

thanks for your help

You need a unique SCSI address on that 230MB HD. There are jumpers on the drive to set it.
Mt. Everything is very handy to evaluate and mount SCSI devices.
