i just got a 9500 for free yesterday. how does it compare to the 9600? what's the difference between being tsunami-based and being kansas-based? are there any fundamental differences other than the inline bus of 100mhz on the 6 compared to the 50mhz buses on the 5? anything that makes the 6 more foward-compatible?
also, where could i find a take-apart guide for it? the guy i got it from put a couple cards in there, but it seems the mobo has to come out to see what they are and i haven't figured out how to do that.
I finally realized after posting this that I had posted some ideas on your other B&W post.
I know what you mean about being attached to the 6500. I have the saem problem but diverted my attention to the other Macs in my collection and the poor 6400 is sitting in a corner with no purpose. It's kinda sad....
The 95/9600's have the saem bus speed of 50MHz. The 100MHz bus first appeared in the B&W G3.
There is really not much difference in the two (95/9600) Macs when it comes to upgrading unless you have one of the 300MHz models. Except the 9600 opens in two seconds and the 9500 opens after making you bleed.
You have managed to get two of the worst Macs to take apart. The 64/6500 & 85/9500 Macs will make you loose blood.
Check the Apple manual download section and there should be a manual with a take apart guide. It will at least tell you how to get it open. I had an 8500 once but forget how it comes apart. I must have blocked that out of my memory due to trauma ;-)
