Re:max out my 6500? - 2007/03/02 11:13
it's pretty much stock. there's 96meg ram, and i dropped in an ethernet card back in '05 when i thought i was going to go dsl. don't remember right now if it's the farallon commII card or a pci, but i doesn't matter because i expect i'll be surfing via bluetooth connection in future (and if need be, i'll try and source the commII card).
i'm wondering where the threshold is upgrade-wise. at what point does an upgrade cease to add any new benefit because it eclipses capabilities of the machine's architecture or precessor? for example, i've seen some material about the voodoo 4/5 and radeon 7000 cards in these machines. would more recent, even more powerful cards (assuming compability), provide an additional boost? also, i've seen nothing about nvidia cards?
well, i think you see where i'm going. right now, i'm assuming i'd fill the tv slot and the pci slots. does a pci chassis make any sense? what would i put in it?
thanks again.
