Monitor 640CD? - 2007/01/01 08:24I have a 640cd and the Monitor is going dim? What would cause that and if the monitor itself is going bad do you have to use a apple monitor?

Re:Monitor 640CD? - 2007/01/01 09:36Sounds like the high voltage power supply is going out or the fly-back transformer in either case the monitor is dying. Will cost more to fix than replace.

Re:Monitor 640CD? - 2007/01/04 01:03The monitor is probably just getting old and wearing out. They tend to get dimmer with age.
You do not have to use an Apple monitor but you will need an Apple to VGA video adapter. ($5.00 on ebay) Or you can look around your local thrift shops or recycler for old Mac monitors usually as cheap as an adapter. You may also want to check for a local Mac Users Group which can be a good resource.
