Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/17 15:41 With a new year on the horizon, the 'iPhone' speculation has returned once more. Do you think Apple should release a music-capable 'iPod phone' or would you prefer the company continue to release dedicated portable audio/video devices? Would you buy a music-capable phone from Apple? Have you already purchased one from Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, LG, or another company? Why or why not?

Re:Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/17 17:58 I'm happy with my black iPod nano and wouldn't buy a iPhone because I already have the iPod and my cell phone was free. I think itwill be hard for iPhone to compete with free.

Re:Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/17 18:03 an 'iPhone' would be neat, with some sort of "pocket" OSX but it would be really expensive from apple, and my phone was free as well... so i wouldn't buy it... still be cool tho

Re:Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/17 19:00 I keep trying to post a message here,,,,,,,wont work, one more try then forget it.
OK, I am not interested in another phone, I certainly have enuf of them. Phones are cheap and good, my landline, cell, and Skype are just fine. So I am not interested in Mac phone.
But there might be some people out there who would, so keep on with this idea.

Re:Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/17 19:05 I don't think the world needs another music playing phone.
I have a nano iPod which works really well for reading info and playing music, My phone I own, ( they're never free BTW people - you do pay for them) and I've resisted buying a new smart phone because they're all flawed. The Palm treo almost made it, but they put that stupid tiny keyboard on it and dropped the handwriting recognition

What would tempt me is a smart phone with Mac like interface that syncs properly with iCal, Address book and iTunes, works with iWork, etc.
For reasonable market penetration, it would also need to work with Office of course.

Come on Apple, show the world how to design a PDA comm device.

Re:Discussion Q&A - New iPhone Speculation? - 2006/12/18 09:25 Interesting topic. I am in the market for a new phone ( 2yr obselensce has kicked in). AND I am looking at an iPod as well. Would it be nice to get them all in one package? Hmmm...with all the choices of smart phones, blackberrys etal, I am having a hard time choosing. The issue is the price and the quality. Seems every two years I have to get a new phone. So price is definately a consideration. As is longevity. THe fact that people CAN already get phones that play music has to cut into the iPod market. If Apple could design an iPhone that I trusted would last more than 2 years, I would probably buy one, if the price wasn't too much more than the blackberry or other smart phone/,
