PM 5500 TV card audio settings/AppleScript - 2006/12/05 18:55 Greetings,

I have a 5500 with a TV card, and everytime I launch and quit the TV app, I have to manually reselect the TV-CD-Video source in the Sound control panel (for TV audio to work). The Mac has not been turned off, it just won't save my selected audio source.

I have tried to create an AppleScript to select the audio source, but it won't record my mouse click on the TV output. The script stops recording at the opening of the Sound control panel.

I know little about AppleScript and wonder if there is a way to get the script to select the audio source? If I manually select the TV audio, shut down, and wait for the scheduled start up/or restart, It works... But I have to do this every time. The idea was to place this "audio select script" in the startup items folder before the TV app launch?

I just wanted a novel TV alarm clock... It did work 5 years ago, but the MotherBoard WAS installed in another "box" (5400 vs 5500)
Do I just need a new battery? The time settings are saved.

Sorry for the long post.

Cheers!

Re:PM 5500 TV card audio settings/AppleScript - 2006/12/06 05:29 Yeah , as a min , I would suggest getting a new battery. They are cheap . Not sure if it would fix your problem but I had a preference glitch once before and replacing the battery fixed it and other issues too.

Re:PM 5500 TV card audio settings/AppleScript - 2006/12/07 18:27 Thanks Stewie,

I replaced the battery and moved the MB to the 5400 with the same results... I've trashed all the sound and related prefs I could find.

Does anyone have a TV card installed that can confirm that what I'm trying to "fix" is indeed not functioning correctly?

Thanks!

Re:PM 5500 TV card audio settings/AppleScript - 2006/12/08 20:40 If you go to the 6400 zone and have a look at all their articles you may find an answer. There is a lot on TV/Video cards .

Re:PM 5500 TV card audio settings/AppleScript - 2006/12/12 21:24 I found the problem, and it was a simple fix.

I had checked "play audio through output device" in the sound control panel. It seemed logical since I wanted audio from the TV card.

I thought the TV card was an output device....

My logic often fails me. I hope this helps someone else...

Thanks for the help.

Cheers
