Discussion Q&A - iPod shuffle Success? - 2006/12/03 20:07Media reports have stated that the second generation iPod shuffle has become the best selling iPod, topping the iPod nano. Did you expect the smallest and cheapest iPod to become the best selling or are you surprised that it is selling so well with limited capacity and no display? Why or why not?

Re:Discussion Q&A - iPod shuffle Success? - 2006/12/03 22:56I'm not surprised that th small cheap one is the most popular. Most people don't really have much music and it's the one being pushed at the kids. I don't have an iPod, but I wouldn't buy one without a screen.

Re:Discussion Q&A - iPod shuffle Success? - 2006/12/03 23:10Although it may seem at first blush that the popularity of the new iPOD shuffle is based on its low price,I feel the convenience of its extremely small size, and the utmost in portability make it an ideal unit for working men and women who need to have alot of freedom of movement, and don't want to worry about banging it against anything. It is especially good for tradesmen, who may be working on roofs or stagings. Two thumbs up!

Re:Discussion Q&A - iPod shuffle Success? - 2006/12/04 12:54good point wgperry. i think the shuffle sells well mainly because of its wearability. i have an ipod mini and am thinking about getting a shuffle because the mini is bigger than i like when im riding my bike. i do wish it had a screen though even a single line b&w display would be fine.

Re:Discussion Q&A - iPod shuffle Success? - 2006/12/04 15:45It's not just the portability, but also the design and looks, I think. It can be worn as a kind of jewelry. If you saw the CNN show in which the Zune was first presented and discussed, you'd have seen the CNN announcer trump the Zune with the Shuffle, showing it off as jewelry, which she pinned on her blazer while the techie handling the Zune bumbled around with it. I'd link the clip, but it's now in CNN's archive and you have to pay to access it.
