PowerBook Running Slow - 2006/11/17 10:35Hi, I have a PowerBook G4 800MHZ and I noticed that it is running slow and i am not sure whats wrong with it. I have bought this powerbook form a friend and i am new to MAC
Please help me in fixing it.

Biggest thing you could do to speed things up is to get more memory for the machine. Your PowerBook has the capacity for up to 1 GB RAM.
Mac apps don't usually hide things in startup the way Windows apps do. You can use Activity Monitor (/Applications/Utilities) to take a peek at what's running, and then try to track down and trash things you don't use. A shareware utility called AppZapper can help you get rid of underused apps and the support files they leave behind.
Newer versions of MacOS have actually gained speed over prior ones, so if you are able to upgrade (after fixing the problems described in your earlier posts), you might get the boost you've been seeking.
