Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro? - 2006/10/01 22:57 With the iMac series upgraded to Core 2 Duo processors, and numerous Windows-compatible Core 2 Duo notebooks shipping, when do you think Apple will boost the MacBook Pro models to use Core 2 Duo processors? Why do you think Apple has not done so already?

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro? - 2006/10/02 06:37 Rumor sites have pretty much decided that it'll take place in October sometime, probably the best to get into the swing of the Holiday season.

It could go as late as November, too.

Then again, it could wait until MWSF in January, if apple decides to just completely revamp the entire platform.

We really don't know, and the world of Intel on the Mac is too new for us to tell how it will affect Apple's traditional upgrade/bump cycles.

In the past, new processor speeds often heralded new models; but Intel comes out with speed bumped processors much faster than Motorola did. So Apple may be able to provide speed bumps more quickly, too.

Time will tell. Apple sure won't!

Re:Discussion Q&A - Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro? - 2006/10/02 09:32 I am surprised that Apple did not upgrade the MacBook Pro at the same time they upgraded the iMac. They both went Intel at the same time, so it is weird that Apple has not upgraded it already.

Waiting until January would have to kill sales between now and then, right?? The PC's are all Core 2 Duo already, so Apple has to be coming out with a new MacBook Pro soon.
