move info to new Hard drive - 2006/07/24 11:35Hi Folks, I am upgrading my old Pismo, buying an 80g 7200 hard drive and external USB enclosure, planning to put the new drive into the computer and the old one in the enclosure. Once I've got that far, how do I transfer the OS & data from the old drive to the new? Is there a short cut so I can just copy the drive? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gray

You can't use a USB drive to boot from, though. You'll need a firewire drive for that.

It looks like if I can't boot from the USB enclosure I bought I'll need to reverse the idea I had, leave the old drive in the computer, put the new blank one in the enclosure, and copy the old drive to the new one that way. Am I thinking right about this?
