iBook G4 only charging when off or asleep - 2009/06/13 10:54 Shortly after receiving a 12" iBook G4/1.33GHz that I bought from someone on a Mac forum, I noticed that it only charges when turned off or in sleep mode. I've tried nearly everything to fix the problem or pinpoint the cause:

* Swapped batteries with a working machine
* Tested with a 65W power supply (mine is only 45W)
* Replaced the DC board
* Reset the PRAM and PMU

Someone who saw my laptop on Craigslist thinks the problem is with the PMU chip and informed me of a group who can replace it for $150, but I'd rather fix it myself if possible (I have some experience with soldering).
