How much empty hard disk space do you have ? You should have at least 10% free but 20% or more is recommended.

You should also repair permissions from the Disk Utility and repair disk from the Disk Utility on your OS boot disk while booted from the disk.

You must use the booted OS disk to repair the disk and can also repair permissions from there but it's best to use the OS you are running if it's been updated from the version on the install disk.

Also make sure your OS is updated to 10.3.9.

As harry mentioned you may need more RAM. Most people don't have enough RAM and as time goes by you tend to do more and more with the same inadequate amount of RAM. And browsers and internet content use more RAM than when your Mac was new.

OS 10.3 is getting dated too so you may want to consider upgrading to OS 10.4. Or consider a newer Mac.
